Tires of cars, bikes, and bicycles require a certain amount of air pressure. This air pressure makes them deliver smoother performance. If you want to know the amount of air pressure needed in your tire. All you need to do is look at the sidewall of your tire. Every tire has tire pressure info on the tire’s sidewall. Sometimes you need to know about slackening the oxidized lug nuts of the tire before getting it out or deflate your tires.

Over inflating your tire in summers can promote uneven tread wear. The tires with access volume of air pressure can burst. This burst can ultimately damage your tire and can cause an accident.

Required Tools for Deflating the Tire

  • To deflate the tire, you’ll need the following items:
  • Air pressure gauge
  • Screwdriver
  • Hydraulic jack (in case you want to flatten your tire completely)

Procedure To Deflate the Tire

If you’ve overinflated your tire and you want to deflate the tire. All you need to do is follow the following steps:

  • Locate the tire you want to deflate. Use a gauge to measure the air pressure of the tire.
  • Now find the valve stem of the tire and take off the valve cap.
  • Rotate the cap anti-clockwise to unscrew the cap. You can use your fingers to unscrew the cap. Once the lid is off, you’ll see the pin of the valve.
  • You’ll need a screwdriver or a tool with a pointy end.
  • Now, place the screwdriver on the pin of the valve and press it. Once you press the pin, the air will start to escape.
  • After deflating your tire, use the air pressure gauge to check the air if you’ve deflated the tire above the required air pressure. Fill the tire with the needed air pressure.

Tips for Deflating the Tire

  • Before deflating your tire, make sure to check your tires air pressure.
  • If your vehicle is stuck and you want to deflate the tire. Make sure to deflate half the air.
  • You can purchase an air pressure gauge from the internet. Air pressure gauges are also available in the hardware store.
  • Lift the car with a hydraulic jack if you want to deflate the tire completely.
