Computerized or Digital Tire Balance

In this method of balancing tires. Computer or digital technology is used to balance the tires. They mount a tire in the wheel balancing machine. The machine shows the data on the computer screen. It balances the tire automatically.

Old School or Bubble Tire Balance

In this method, they use bubble balancer and tire balancing beads. They put the tire on the bubble balancer. To balance the tire, put tire balancing weights, and adjust the tire.

Wheel Balancing Procedure

In this section, we’ll learn how to balance the tire using a wheel balancing machine. We’ll also learn the procedure of bubble tire balance.

Digital Tire Balancing

Let’s start with digital tire balancing. Digital tire balancing cost money. Following are the steps to balance the tire:

  1. The first step to begin with tire balancing is safety. Use gloves, and safety shoes to start the tire balancing.
  2. Secondly, make sure that your tires don’t have cracks. If the tire is old and has cracks, the balancing won’t work.
  3. Make sure to take off the center wheel cap of the tire. The main reason for taking off the cap is to get accurate results.
  4. Now you are ready to mount the wheel onto the machine — Mount, your tire and measure the length and width of the tire. The computer won’t recognize the dimensions of the wheel unless you measure them.
  5. The machine will ask you to select the type of vehicle. Vehicle type will help in proper testing of the tire. Make sure to enter the air pressure as well.
  6. Close the hood and start the testing process.
  7. Once the testing completes, the machine will tell you how much weight tire requires for balancing. Install the weights and rebalance the tire.
  8. Finally, after the rebalance. Finish the process and take the tire off. Install it in your vehicle, and you’re good to go.

Old School Method of Balancing Tires

If you want to balance the tires manually, you’ll need bubble balancer. It’s a device to balance tires. Follow the steps given below to balance the tires manually:

  1. The first step to begin with tire balancing is to take off your car tire.
  2. Once the tire is off from your vehicle, make sure to take off the center cap.
  3. After following the steps given above. Install your tire in the bubble balancer. The bubble on the top of balancer will move towards the higher weight.
  4. Once you know the geometry of tire imbalance, now you can install the weights to balance the tire.
  5. After installing the weights, recheck the balance of the tire. Make sure the bubble is in the center after attaching weights.
  6. Now, take off the tire from balancer and install it back in your vehicle. You’re good to go. People now can easily rotate their tires at home by themselves.

  • Vibration is one of the critical symptoms of tire balancing. When you feel a vibration in the wheels and your vehicle. It means that your tires are out of balance. There could many different reasons for your car vibration. Check if that is because of the tires then you should change your tires.

  • If you’re purchasing new tires, it’s better to balance them before installation.
  • Uneven tire tread wear is another indication. If you find uneven wear on your tires, it’s better to balance them.
